Business Dynamics and Challenges
Business Activities:
Amantrungwa Cooperative is a nursery business that supplies farmers, locals and nursery with trees (roses, fruits trees, shades trees, succulents).
Challenges/Needs:
The cooperative was onboarded by SEDFA in October 2025. Prior to this, the business started from a very limited base, producing compost from chicken waste and planting in a residential yard. To expand operations, the members requested access to land from the local chief and relied on a small bakkie owned by one of the members for transportation.
Since then, the business has made significant progress. It now owns a bakkie, has access to three operational stands, and received support from the municipality in the form of two water tanks and additional plant stock. However, the cooperative still requires a borehole to reduce the cost of purchasing water and to improve sustainability.
